Fowler believes Reds will win Premiership in May

Ex Liverpool idol Robbie Fowler believes The Reds will finally lift the Premier League title this coming season. The striker who recently marked his debut for Australian team North Queensland Fury by scoring a goal from the penalty spot, also spoke of his amazement at Michael Owe joining arch rivals Manchester United:

“I’m surprised Michael has gone to United but he’s a very good player and I hope he does well,” reports the Star.

“But if he scores a lot of goals, I hope Torres scores even more,” he added.

“It’s a bit of a sticky situation for us, with Michael going there as I don’t want United to do well.”

But Fowler is convinced Liverpool will seize the Premiership from United’s grasp.

He said: “Rafa Benitez is a very good manager and he’ll be looking to put right a few wrongs last season.”

“The way Liverpool finished the league last season was brilliant but unfortunately United’s finish was similar.”

“But I have been saying for some time now that this will be Liverpool’s season – they will win the league.”

Fowler’s thoughts are also being backed up by former Red, now Tranmere boss John Barnes:
Barnes said: “Yes, Liverpool can win the title this time."

“And yes, they could have won it last season. But they over achieved. So I want Liverpool fans to be a little more cautious and not assume automatically that Liverpool will win it this year.”
