Government wants to break up 'big four' footballing monopoly
The Government wants to break up what they see as footballing monopoly between the so called ‘big four’ clubs and distribute their Champions League and TV money to the rest of the Premier League teams claims today’s Mail. Champions League cash worth £15 million-£40m to each could be shared out among the 20 clubs in England’s top division with the aim of creating a more level playing field, under the proposed scheme headed by Culture Secretary and life long Everton fan Andy Burnham. Currently 50 per cent is distributed among all the clubs.
